ABOUT THE PET ESSENCE RANGE

Using flower essences on animals is a wonderful way to show for definite that they do have a beneficial effect on living beings. The EU has put essences in the food category rather than the medicine category, although in reality they are neither. So when a pet owner makes the decision to use flower essences to help their animal, because essences are not categorised as medicines, there is no need to ask the vet for permission to use them. Essences can be used at any time, except in cases where the animal should take nothing by mouth. In those cases a few drops can be stroked through the animal’s coat. They are designed to promote a positive effect, and alleviate behavioural imbalances such as over-aggression, nervousness, panic, jealousy, hostility, over-exuberance, despondency, inability to cope with change and general nuisance behaviour.
Each of these 15ml stock essence combinations, in mineral water and vodka, are made with Edward Bach’s flower essence choices, together with English wild flowers and gem essences.
For normal use add three to four drops to an animal’s drinking water, put a few drops on a biscuit or other titbit, or add around twelve drops to an atomiser with water to spray over the animal, its cage or its living quarters. You can also put a few essence drops on your hand and stroke your hand through the pet’s coat, fur or feathers. The 50ml Pet Calm spray is a ready made atomiser product for use on the pet’s coat or around their living space.

ABOUT THE PET ESSENCE RANGE
AGGRESSIVE PET

AGGRESSIVE PET

Price: 7.25

Quantity:

Keywords: Fierce, snappy, angry, rage, bullying, bad tempered, hostility, irritability, unpredictable, out of control, jealousy.
Ingredients: Cherry Plum, Dill, Holly, Impatiens, Mimulus, Pearl, Red Clover, Rock Rose, Star of Bethlehem, Tiger Lily, Willow and Vine flower essences.
This for the animal who is fierce or aggressive by nature, and in certain situations becomes unapproachable and unmanageable. This may because the animal is hurt or ill, has been treated badly, is starving, or is defending its territory or its young. It will spit, bit, peck, bare its teeth, kick or make a lot of noise when approached, to show that it feels threatened. Cherry Plum and Star of Bethlehem essences are to help an animal that has been abused. Holly is for rage, jealousy, fighting or biting tendencies, and where the animal doesn’t want to be touched. Willow is for bad-tempered, sulky animals, who harbour hostile thoughts and are jealous of other animals. Vine is for an animal that uses inappropriate aggression to establish dominance over other animals or over what they regard as their territory. Pearl calms fractious behaviour, and Impatiens is for snappy or intolerant animals.

(We rescued a cat from a neighbour who had died. It was "hissy", scratchy and quite dangerous. The neighbour’s relative had even threatened to shoot it. Gradually, over time, and with a little help from this essence, this cat was transformed into a very characterful animal, who even though he had long term health problems, become a loving and loyal lap cat).

CALM PET

Keywords: Fear, panic, trauma, shock, hysteria, over-excitability, re-balancing, soothing. (The "Rescue" essence for animals).
Ingredients: Chamomile, Beech, Clematis, Cherry Plum, Chestnut Bud, Citrine, Honeysuckle, Impatiens, Pearl, Rock Rose, Star of Bethlehem and Vervain flower and gem essences.

This essence is is really the animal version of Bach's "Rescue" essence, but with added essences, to cover a broader spectrum of symptoms caused by the stresses of twenty-first century life. This essence is for an animal who has become frightened due to pain, perceived danger or a a sudden change in circumstances. It may react by becoming aggressive, rushing about, going into shock or not eating. But if your animal is habitually nervous or highly-strung try "Nervous Pet" essence instead. Calm Pet is best for an animal that is normally stable and calm, except in unusual situations. Citrine alleviates emotional trauma. Rock Rose is for giddiness and for animals who are likely to die of terror or shock, such as little birds. Star of Bethlehem is for anaesthetising emotional shock and trauma, and for animals about to undergo an operation. Chamomile is calming, and Pearl and Clematis are for animals in a state of nervous collapse or shock. Cherry Plum is for loss of self-control, and Impatiens is for aggression caused by pain, fear or illness. Honeysuckle is for an animal that just gives up, and Beech is for animals who go rigid or attack when someone tries to help them. Vervain is for calming animals that get hyperactive and over-excited as a reaction to a new, strange situation. Chestnut bud is to help an animal to learn to cope with a generally harmless, but to them a frightening experience, that re-occurs on a regular basis. (For example I knew of a horse that was frightenend by a red telephone box at the end of the road where he lived). This essence is for horses that bite, kick or rear up when badly frightened, for animals who hate to be in confined spaces, for those who shake and shiver or suffer uncontrollable panic, for those who try to escape from their rescuers or cages, and for animals who won't eat for days after a very frightening experience.
N.B. Calm Pet essence should be used for the emotional well-being of an animal, in conjunction with veterinary care for it’s physical well-being. Where an animal has been frightened, but is not in need of veterinary care, a few drops can be added to water for the animal to drink. However, more effective in most cases, (especially where the animal might need to go to a vet), is to put a few drops in an atomiser and spray over the animals coat, avoiding the eyes and mouth. A few drops put on the hand and stroked into the animal’s coat is also effective at calming an animal too, where the animal has not become dangerous to approach.

(I remember putting some drops in my hand and just stroking it over a young robin that had been caught by a cat. I put it on top of the shed roof. He sat tight there for a while with his eyes closed. After a little while I went to check up on him. As I approached he opened one eye, and with a baleful look which seemed to say "Oh gosh, I’m still alive then", he flapped his wings and flew away).

PET CALM SPRAY (50ml)

PET CALM SPRAY (50ml)

Price: 11.25

Quantity:

Keywords: Fear, panic, trauma, aggression, threatening behaviour, snappy, angry, bad-tempered, hissing, kicking, shock, hysteria, trembling, whimpering, soothing, calming.
Ingredients: This is a combination of Aggressive Pet and Calm Pet flower and gem essences, together with a little Bergamot essential oil.
This essence spray combination with Bergamot oil is for alleviating extreme stress. It is specifically designed to be used where it is not possible to get near a frightened, aggressive, out of control or hysterical pet. A little Pet Calm Spray can be sprayed over the animal, avoiding its eyes and mouth. It can also be sprayed in their cage, basket, stable or living space. After spraying the animal with Pet Calm, wait around five minutes, then repeat if necessary. When the animal has calmed down, speak gently to the animal and make sure the animal has some drinking water available, but if the animal is an aggressive one, make sure that you cover and protect any parts of your body that the animal might bite or scratch first. A few drops of the Calm Pet essence can be added to the water. If a pet owner has become upset by their animal’s behaviour, a little Pet Calm Spray can be added to the hands. Gently rub the hands together. Cup the hands loosely together over the nose and mouth, and breath very slowly in and out though the nose until you feel calmer.

GOOD DOG

GOOD DOG

Price: 7.25

Quantity:

Keywords: Attention seeking, separation anxiety, bad habits, over-exuberance, inappropriate toilet habits, clinginess, nuisance behaviour, pulling on the lead.
Ingredients: Chamomile, Chestnut Bud, Chicory, Impatiens, Heather, Sapphire, Vervain, Vine and Willow flower and gem essences.
This essence combination is for any pet or animal with behavioural problems, and not just exclusively for dogs. It helps to alleviate attention-seeking habits such as uncontrollable barking, jumping up, play biting, marking, poor toilet habits, damaging furniture, rolling in muck, habitually trying to escape, or generally making a nuisance of themselves in order to be noticed. Cherry Plum and Vervain essences are for the over-exuberant animal who pulls on the lead, chews or destroys furniture, or urinates in inappropriate places. Chestnut Bud is for an animal that doesn’t learn from its mistakes. Heather is for attention seeking. Chicory is for the "Leader of the pack" animal, who can’t accept other animals, and for separation anxiety and boredom. Honeysuckle is for homesickness, pining and grief, and for cats that keep returning to a former home. Chamomile is for dogs that bark madly and exhibit wild behaviour. Cherry Plum is for those animals who tear, bite or excessively groom or lick their skin, and for mothers who have a tendency to destroy their young at birth. Willow is for stubborn animals, for example cats who insist on urinating outside their litter tray, or horses who refuse to take the bit or roll in their own dung in the stable.
N.B. A dog who exhibits behavioural problems may regard itself as leader of the pack. This dog may tug on the lead, sleep on the bed, get fed before the owner, etc. Use this essence as a training aid and take your animal to behaviour classes, where it will be taught to treat you as "top dog".

HAPPY TRAVEL PET

HAPPY TRAVEL PET

Price: 7.25

Quantity:

Keywords: Confusion, nausea, fear, panic, whining, trembling, stress incontinence.
Ingredients: Dill, Emerald, Impatiens, Mimulus, Pearl, Red Clover and Rock Rose flower and gem essences.
This for the animal that hates travelling. Red Clover and Rock Rose essences are for animals that display their fear by struggling to break free when being put in a basket or cage. Dill essence is for the sense of disorientation and lack of security that many animals feel when being moved out of their home territory. Emerald is to alleviate feelings of nausea and motion sickness, brought on by the animal’s fear. Pearl essence is for stress incontinence. Mimulus is for animals that whine, tremble or dribble when travelling.
Directions for use: Add a few drops to a small amount of drinking water half an hour before travelling. Or add few drops to an atomiser with luke-warm water and spray the animal’s coat, or put a few drops of the essence on your hand and stroke it through the animal’s coat, fur or feathers.

(Occasionally an animal has a physical inner ear problem, which causes the animal to feel giddy and nauseous when travelling. Happy Travel Pet works only on the emotional aspects of motion sickness. One of my clients, an animal trainer, found that her dog had a physical inner ear problem, but by giving her dog a piece of ginger, and then spraying Pet Calm spray with Happy Travel Pet, her dog now remains calm enough not to quiver and jump all over her in panic when travelling by car. Avoid putting a dog who suffers from motion sickness in the back of a car, and make sure that a cat can see your face or body from its cage if they are nervous travellers. Drive smoothly and avoid changing speed too rapidly. Some horses find it less stressful to have a light on in their horse box.)

NERVOUS PET

NERVOUS PET

Price: 7.25

This is for the pet who is inherently always nervous, jumpy or easily frightened.. A change to their normal routine or something that they find frightening, such as traffic noise, telephones, vets, strangers, confined spaces, other animals, thunderstorms or fireworks can trigger exaggerated fear reactions, stress incontinence, mad rushing around, self-mutilation, whining, shivering or snorting. Sapphire and Impatiens essences are for an animal who is highly strung and tends to rush around when stressed. These animals can be prone to itchy skin, eczema, vomiting or diarrhoea, which is unrelated to their diet. Rock Rose is for panic attacks, nervous agitation and phobias (particularly in horses).
